Established in late 2007 by Ebby Agu, 5point Magazine was created as a hub for unrecognized creative entities. with a global reach from North America to Australia, 5point Magazine celebrates the 5points of creative expression: Art, Fashion, Photography, Music, and Writing. In an era where the output of creativity is at an all time low, the E-Magazine, 5pointMagazine.com, serves as an outlet for those who refuse to let creativity die. Our motto, “Be Seen, Be Heard, Be Free!” affirms the liberation that comes with true creative expression. We provide a space where artistic voices will not be silenced, where creative minded people, can share their talents with the world.

- There is no I in "TEAM" -

I thought this would be difficult to write, But now that I think of it its flowing so easy like the words that came from my mentor Van’s (Evangelos Dousmanis) mouth. I first met Van while running track at Binghamton University in 1999. Often saw him taking photographs of the team and across campus. He had a sarcastic humor; in fact the way he would crack on kids you would swear he didn’t like you. I should know he has cracked on me many times.

It is almost like it was fate that brought me to really get to know Van. In need of an elective I went to go see him one day and next thing you know I was his Teaching Assistant for Digital Design for a year. He has a basement office/photo studio with macs, plaques, awards, and of-course pictures. Pictures Everywhere!. This dude lived life man. He flew planes just for fun, just for the hell of it. Rode motorcycles and absolutely loved to see life threw a lens. Most importantly it was HIS lens.

I got to know Van for 7 years. When I found out he had cancer I didn’t even know how to approach him. Its like I didn't want to be the dude feeling sorry for him. I know at the time so many people were consoling him and comforting him. I just wanted to be around the dude. I came to his office and he joked on me as usual, but I appreciated it. He would show me pics of his trips to the rain forest and to these places around the planet I couldn't only dream to have been too. I would look this man in the eyes, a man who I respected dearly for keeping it so real. I can not stress that enough. I guess thats when it hit me. Van would do anything for me, I honestly thank him because I graduated college because of him. And now I pursue my free spirit through my dream of bringing creativity to your eyes the way he did for me. Many knew Van better than I did, but I take from the little time I’d known him a deeper appreciation for doing what is in your heart. Thank you.

I love you Van. RIP. YOU DA MAN!! Special Shout out to Nathaalie, Idris and Omar.
